CASIE General Questions
What does CASIE stand for?
CASIE stands for Center for the Advancement and Study of International Education. For more information about CASIE, click here.
Where is CASIE located?
CASIE is located on the campus of the Atlanta International School. Our address is 2890 North Fulton Drive, Atlanta, GA, 30305. We are in the heart of Buckhead, a financial, restaurant and shopping district just north of downtown and about 30 minutes from Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport.
Registration Questions
How do I use the online registration system?
Can an IB coordinator register more than one teacher at a time?
Currently, each teacher has to be entered separately. Once you finish a registration, click on the “Register Another Teacher” button. Enter the email of the new teacher. General information from the previous registration should be pre-populated to simplify the process.
What if I don't have a PO or check?
CASIE will not be able to send you final confirmation of your enrollment in our workshop until we receive either the purchase order or a check for the full amount. Note that your registration will not be confirmed until we receive the PO or the check. You cannot "hold" a place and your electronic registration does not guarantee you a place until we have the PO or the check.
Why do you need our IB School Code and where do I find it?
Candidate and authorized schools are required to train a certain number of their teachers. This number is reported back to IBNA and helps them track the number of teachers your school has trained. All IB School Codes can be found on IB's website. From the home page, go to the "Find an IB World School" section. Find your school and click on the name. The IB School Code will appear along with other information about your school.
I need to send some people to training, but I don't know who can go yet. Can I just hold some places?
We require that you enter a name and unique e-mail address for each participant. However, this information can be changed at a later date. As long as we have a purchase order or check, the space will be reserved. Without them, no spaces will be secured.
What if I register someone and they change their mind or cannot go?
We have a cancellation policy that is outlined on the main page of each workshop. As long as the cancellation is in writing and comes before the deadline, there will be no charge. Cancellations after the deadline will NOT be refunded.
Who do I pay and how?
We accept checks or money orders made out to CASIE. In order to secure your registration, we will need to have at least a Purchase Order from your school district. Once your registration is confirmed, your district is obligated to pay unless your registration is cancelled in writing (e-mail is accepted) within the appropriate time period. Please see the web page for the workshop you are considering for this information. We do not accept credit cards.
I need to change the name of one of the participants, what do I do?
All name changes must be sent to CASIE in writing. Please email your request to casie@aischool.org, include the name of the participant you are replacing, the name of the new participant, the new participant's email address and the registration number. Please note that all name changes received less than three business days prior to the start of the workshop may not be reflected at the time of check-in.
Workshop Questions
Where do the workshops take place?
Most of the workshops take place at the Atlanta International School. Click here for directions to AIS.
Where do I stay?
Recommended accommodations for our workshops can be found for IB workshops and GDOE workshops.
Please be sure to mention that you are with the CASIE conference in order to receive the discounted rate. Click here for recommendations.
What if I need to leave the workshop early?
It is recommended that all participants arrive the evening before the workshop starts and do not make flight arrangements prior to 3:00 pm on the final day of the workshop. If plans require you to leave early, you may request your certificate of attendance in writing following the close of the workshop. Your certificate will reflect the actual number of hours you attended at the workshop.
Can I get a copy of my certificate of attendance?
CASIE provides one complimentary Certificate of Attendance at the close of each workshop. Additional copies are available for $15 each. To order your copy, please click here to visit our order page.
Do I need to rent a car?
It is not necessary to rent a car while you are here. From the airport to your hotel, there are several options:
- Subway: Marta Northbound from the airport ($1.75) to Lindbergh Station and then call your hotel for their shuttle. You could also go to Buckhead Station, one more station North, from where it is only a 10-minute walk to the DoubleTree or AmeriSuites Hotels.
- Airport Shuttle (Atlanta Airport Shuttle) which will take you straight to your hotel (approximately $21 one way or $37 round-trip) . Visit theatlantalink for info.
- Taxi: approximately $40 one way.
- Hotel Shuttles: From your hotel to the CASIE workshops at the school, you will need to request the hotel shuttle at the front desk in the mornings. The hotel shuttles will be supplemented by our own vans. Please note that CASIE only coordinates shuttles for hotels on our list of recommended accommodations.
Being located in Buckhead, there are many restaurants and shops within walking distance of the hotels.
Are meals included in the workshop fee?
Morning coffee, lunch and refreshments at break times are provided. Dinners are on your own.
What should I wear?
The workshops here are casual and you should try to be comfortable.
What is the weather in Atlanta?
For our summer workshops, Atlanta will be hot and humid with showers nearly every afternoon. However, most buildings are very well air-conditioned.
For the October workshop, the weather should be mild with cooler evenings.
The best advice is always to bring layers and be prepared for rain.
