DESCRIPTION:RECOMMENDED FOR:\nPYP educators\, coordinators\, librarians/media specialists\nand specialist teachers\, who wish to learn more about\ndesigning and teaching for conceptual understanding in a\ntransdisciplinary and inquiry-based learning environment. \nHow might we intentionally design and teach for conceptual\nunderstanding within a transdisciplinary and inquiry-based\ncontext? Developing conceptual understanding enables learners\nto access many kinds of knowledge and develop understanding \nfrom multiple sources and diverse perspectives. In this workshop\,\nparticipants will explore how:\n• Conceptual understanding is central to the aims of an IB\neducation.\n• Conceptual understanding is developed through the\npedagogical approaches to teaching to support\ntransdisciplinary learning within\, across and beyond subjects.\n• The programme of inquiry and the PYP collaborative planning\nprocess frame opportunities that enable designing\nand teaching for conceptual understanding that connects\nmeaningfully to the learner and the learning community.\n• Concepts play a critical role in organizing\, designing and\nplanning curriculum and learning.\n• Together\, this creates opportunities for learners to make\nconnections\, transfer and apply skills\, knowledge\, and\nunderstandings to new and different contexts in creative\,\ngenerative\, agentic and dynamic ways.\nThis workshop provides tools and strategies that enhance\nconceptual understanding leading to depth and rigour in thinking\nwithin\, between and across subjects both inside and outside the\nprogramme of inquiry
