In this workshop\, participants will\nexplore how:\n• An IB education develops agentic lifelong learners who are\ninternationally-minded and demonstrate attributes of the IB\nlearner profile\n• Approaches to teaching and learning help students develop\nthe attitudes and skills they need for both academic and\npersonal success\n• An inquiry-based learning environment develops students’\ncuriosity and deeper understanding of concepts\, contexts\nand conceptual understandings.\nCollaborating as a community of learners impacts learning and\nteaching and the success of every learner\nNote: Available from 1 January 2025. SUMMARY:PYP Category 3 - Role of the Coordinator
DESCRIPTION:RECOMMENDED FOR:\nExperienced coordinators from authorized IB World Schools.\nThis workshop is designed to help coordinators implement the\nprogramme in a manner that supports the IB mission statement\nand philosophy\, while at the same time developing programme\nstandards and practices. The workshop looks at the role of\nthe coordinator in documentation\, organizing professional\ndevelopment opportunities\, and managing complex\nrelationships\, resource management and communication\nwith a range of stakeholders. All of these responsibilities are\nintegral to the successful implementation of the programme.\nThe workshop will provide opportunities for reviewing new and\nexisting publications\, curriculum mapping\, policy writing and\nreviewing the guidelines for verification and evaluation. You will\nalso become familiar with online systems\, such as International\nBaccalaureate information system (IBIS) and the programme\nresource centre\, which are vital to the role of the coordinator.\nThe workshop will model collaborative leadership strategies and\nexplore ways to effectively manage change.

DESCRIPTION:RECOMMENDED FOR: All educators\, IB coordinators and school leaders or\ndecision makers at any point in their journey as life-long learners. \nWhat skills positively influence and support a student’s approach to life-long learning?\nAll IB programmes develop the approaches to learning (ATL) skill categories of\ncommunication\, social\, self-management\, research and thinking.\n• Develop a deeper understanding of ATL as a way for students to acquire and use skills\ndeveloped over time in order to access learning.\n• Consider contemporary research to apply metacognitive strategies throughout the\nlearning process\, with an emphasis on assessment as learning.\n• Design the curriculum to encourage students to build these skills.\n• Reflect on how developing affective\, cognitive and meta-cognitive skills using a variety of\nstrategies may increase the capacity of learners to become self-regulated and intrinsically\nmotivated.

SUMMARY:CP Category 1 - Community Engagement
DESCRIPTION:RECOMMENDED FOR:\nTeachers supporting this CP core component from schools\nthat have taken the decision to apply to offer the careerrelated Programme (CP); new or recently appointed\ncommunity engagement (CE) coordinators or advisers\nfrom IB World Schools with an existing CP offer; teachers\nwho are interested in supporting CE in their schools and\nare new to CE.\nThis workshop will provide participants with an in-depth\nlook at the IB mission and philosophy reflected in the CP as\na programme of international education and in the context\nof community engagement (CE) more specifically\, and\nintroduce the function of CE in the CP core and the CP as a\nwhole. Participants will explore the building blocks of CE\, the\nCE learning and engagement process\, and approaches to\nassessment in CE\, and will gain an understanding of both the\naims and the specific requirements of CE. The workshop will\nfocus on practical methods to encourage achievement of the\naims and learning outcomes of CE\, and participants will have\nthe opportunity to consider a range of approaches to bring\nCE to life in their diverse contexts with consideration of their\nstudents and wider communities\, as well as of their school\nresources.
