Workshops
& Conferences

Furthering its mission as a resource to educators, CASIE offers face-to-face and online workshops to promote professional development in the field of international education.

In cooperation with the International Baccalaureate (IB), CASIE offers teacher training workshops for both educators from IB World Schools and from candidate and interested schools.

Our online & in-person workshops cover all four of the IB's programmes of study: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), and the Career Programme (CP). We offer Category 1, 2, and 3 level workshops five times every year (June, July, and October), covering a wide variety of subjects and disciplines.

CASIE's IBC Lunch & Learn is a FREE monthly get-together designed specifically for our local GA IB coordinators and administrators. Join us for networking, support, and learning about how to lead your school's International Baccalaureate Programme. The hour-and-a-half-long meeting is a time for coordinators and administrators from Georgia's many PYP, MYP, DP, and CP programmes to share ideas and concerns, learn from veteran coordinators, discover new resources, and establish valuable contacts. These connections with other coordinators form a support system that helps strengthen all of the IB programs in the state.

From 2010 to 2022, CASIE partnered with Harvard Graduate School of Education to present yearly conferences at locations in the USA and abroad. Project Zero Perspectives conferences featured Harvard Graduate School of Education, Project Zero researchers and practitioners sharing highlights of their work on the following themes:

  • Artful & Visible Thinking: How do we help students develop thinking dispositions that support thoughtful learning--in the arts and across school subjects?

  • GoodWork & GoodPlay: How can we effectively learn collaboratively (both adults and children)? How are the meanings of local and global citizenship shifting in the 21st century?

  • Interdisciplinary Learning: What is the added value of exploring topics through multiple disciplinary lenses?

  • Learning In and Out of School: How do we ensure learners understand what is most important to learn, both in the traditional classroom and in non-traditional learning environments?

  • Learning in and Through the Arts: How do we inspire creativity? How can the arts help us to understand the world around us?

  • Making Learning Visible: How do we effectively document and assess individual and group learning? Why is it important to make learning visible?

Launched in 2017, CASIE offers the Learning Lab series featuring some of the practitioners and researchers at the forefront of education today. These quarterly Labs are designed to encourage a collaborative environment of engagement and discussion among educators. Topics explored include Creating a Culture of Thinking & Understanding, Concept-Based Learning, Participatory Creativity, and Pedagogical Leadership.
