Cindy Toland, Executive Director
A native of Houston, Texas, Cindy has had a successful and varied 25-year career in international education. Prior to joining CASIE, Cindy served as the Elementary School Principal of the American International School of Budapest, an International Baccalaureate World School. Cindy has served as Head of School, Deputy Head, High School and Elementary Principal in five International schools. Not only has she taught in and established schools in Asia, South America, Europe, and the USA, but Cindy grew up in Libya, graduated high school in Scotland, and has attended Azusa Pacific University, and the University of Mississippi for post-graduate studies. Cindy holds a PhD in K-12 Educational Leadership with a specialization in Blended Learning and Student Achievement with Technology in ESL from The University of Mississippi.
Odette Díaz Schuler, Director of Operations & Education Programs
Odette Díaz Schuler has a Master’s degree in Museum Studies from The George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Emory University. Prior to joining CASIE, she worked for such institutions as the Michael C. Carlos Museum of Art and Archaeology in Atlanta, GA; The Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History in Washington, DC; and Explora Science Center in Albuquerque, NM. Born in Cuba, Odette has lived in and traveled throughout Europe, Asia, and Latin American, but has much more of the world to see and taste. Completely fluent in Spanish and English, she can also hold her own in Catalan, French, and Italian. Both of her children currently attend International Baccalaureate World Schools, one in the Primary Years Programme and one in the Middle Years Programme.
Teresa Flanagan, Financial Manager
Teresa Flanagan has a Master’s degree in Biology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Furman University, and has completed coursework for a Master’s of Teaching from Mercer University. Her work history includes telecommunications experience at Earthlink, Inc. as well as owning her own small business. She enjoys seeing the world and has traveled in Europe and Asia as well as a variety of off-interstate spots in the southeastern United States. Her interests include pedagogy, native plant ecology, etymology and public transportation, with which she endlessly bores her husband and two children.
Sarah Wells, Registration Manager
Sarah was born at Ft. Benning, Georgia and grew up in a military family. She spent her childhood moving to military installations throughout the United States. She graduated from the University of North Georgia in 2009, and upon graduation, began working in Atlanta. After a year, she decided to take a 13-month contract at a resort in southern Germany. During her stay in Bavaria, she was able to travel frequently throughout Europe and the U.K. Her most favorite places visited were Galway, Ireland and the city of Monterosso in Cinque Terra, Italy. Because of her desire for new experiences and love of different cultures, Sarah hopes to resume her travels abroad in the near future.
Coryn Marsik, Events Manager
Coryn Marsik has her Master’s degree in International Policy Management and a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from Kennesaw State University where her studies primarily focused on East Asian policy and international political economy. Coryn was born in Georgia, but as the wife of a former Navy sailor, was able to live around the country before returning to Georgia. Coryn loves to travel as much as possible. Other hobbies include cooking, reading, and spending as much time as possible with her husband and their dog outdoors.
